In 1926, prominent Los Angeles attorney Fred Horowitz decided to construct a luxury apartment building on Marmont Lane. After returning from a trip through Europe, where he visited the Château d'Amboise, famously known as the burial place of Leonardo da Vinci, Horowitz commissioned his brother-in-law to design a building inspired by the French château he had just seen.

Nearly a century later, Chateau Marmont has become Hollywood's ultimate hiding place - writers, actors, musicians, addicts, lovers, directors, fugitives from the press; everyone eventually ends up there. Its mythology only grew through stories like John Belushi's fatal overdose in Bungalow 3, Jim Morrison falling from his room and Kanye West having a manic episode on stream with DJ Akademiks.
